Over the past few weeks I've had a lot of misgivings about exactly what I've been doing with this website. Hence the erratic outflow of content, missed films and other assorted hiccups (among other personal life things, mainly doing a semester's worth of school over the summer). Over the past weeks I realized I want to fundamentally change how and why I run this website. Movie reviews are plentiful. From IMDB pages to every newspaper website on can get reviews that are short, sweet and informative. But do I want to simply inform you as to whether or not a film is good? I think I need to shift my focus from reviewing films by writing short, formulaic snippets that offer insight into plot, direction, acting, etc. and instead want to write more insightful criticisms in a way that each review is distinctly different. This may sound a little ambitious but I think it's possible. I've been making a conscious effort to try to take unique and interesting angles when writing about a film. I'm trying to stifle the need to touch upon ever last aspect of a film and instead focus on writing something that is simply interesting and insightful instead. So what does this all mean? It means that I'm going to spend the next few week (possibly even a month) designing a new website as well as writing a handful of new reviews that take on a different approach than I have in the past. Sorry for totally falling of the radar but I spent most of this fourth of July break studying for a final I took today. This is one of a handful of reasons why I didn't see Hancock this weekend. Looking to next week I only have three reviews plus Hellboy II so I'd figure I'd start off this week with a blog post. Also, I didn't realize how elusive Cronos is so I was unable to get a hold of it. So the week has just started and I've already missed two films. Unless lightning strikes me or my computer or internet fails this and next week will be much smoother.
